GivingTuesday Bolivia: Bringing Community Voices to the Streets

At the end of 2025, GivingTuesday Bolivia took its message into the streets, calling for safer, more accessible spaces for people to play sports, move, and gather, with support from across the community.

What began as a small idea quickly grew into a powerful moment of collective action. More than 3,000 people came together, neighbors supporting one another and amplifying a shared call for change.

Participants signed proposals outlining ways to improve the city, which will be delivered to local authorities, media outlets, and private-sector leaders. As an early result, representatives from the municipality, political parties, and the media showed up to listen, demonstrating how community-led action can spark meaningful dialogue and momentum.

Starling Collective Yemen: Launching a New Chapter for Local Leaders

On January 2, 2026, Starling Collective Yemen shared an exciting milestone: the official launch of its new fellowship, marking the first Starling Collective program to be led by an alumnus and offered in Arabic.

The program kicked off on December 31 with an opening session held over Zoom, bringing together 22 inspiring fellows from civil society organizations and youth groups across the country. Participants explored the power of giving in breakout rooms and began navigating the fellowship’s digital learning platform.

Led by alumnus Yasser Alselwi, the initiative adapts the global GivingTuesday model to Yemen’s local context. Over the next six months, 30 change-makers, primarily from Taiz and Hadramout, will take part in intensive training, coaching, and peer learning. Fellows will also receive small grants to help turn their ideas into scalable, community-led projects.

The program is being delivered in partnership with Rescue Development Foundation in Hadramout and Al-Reyadah Development Foundation in Taiz, strengthening local collaboration and long-term impact.

Stay tuned as these leaders move from working in silos to becoming a connected force for change in their communities.

GivingTuesday Liberia: Celebrating Inclusion and Community

On December 17, 2025, GivingTuesday Liberia shared plans for a special upcoming celebration in Monrovia, bringing together people with disabilities, educators, and leaders from the disability community for a day centered on joy, connection, and generosity.

Held at the Police Academy Football Field in Paynesville City, the event, organized in collaboration with YesLiberia and a boarding school for persons with disabilities, will welcome 50 participants with disabilities alongside school administrators and community advocates.

The day will feature interactive games, fun activities, and inspiring storytelling moments designed to spark reflection and togetherness.

Through these experiences, participants will explore the values of volunteering, radical generosity, serving others, and giving back to the community, creating space for learning, celebration, and collective action.

Spark Leader Hadley: Sending Snow Across the Globe

On December 3, 2025, U.S.–based Spark Leader Hadley brought a little winter magic to fellow Spark communities thousands of miles away.

Hadley rallied her community to write holiday cards to children in Uganda and Malawi, spreading messages of kindness and connection across borders. When she learned that kids in Uganda were curious about snow, she went one step further, including a “snow kit” so they could experience it for themselves.

The children even asked about sending messages back to the U.S., sparking what could become a new pen-pal exchange between Spark communities!

GivingTuesday Lebanon: Inspiring Change Through Education

GivingTuesday Lebanon, in partnership with Institut Européen de Coopération et de Développement / Semeurs d’Avenir, brought the spirit of generosity to schools across the country.

Through conversations with 500+ students and 120 teachers, the initiative showed how awareness can shift mindsets, simple guidance can build healthier habits, and small moments of care can make someone feel seen and supported.

This reel captures the smiles, questions, and gratitude shared in every school—a celebration of giving through knowledge, time, and support from the heart.

Hearts of Generosity in Jalisco

The UnDiaParaDar Jalisco community campaign in western Mexico is bringing generosity to life, literally, through the universal symbol of the heart.

At each event in this month-long campaign, the lead organization adds a miniature, personalized heart to a perspex container, filling it up with love and generosity as the community comes together.

Local artists also contributed their creativity: 40 unique heart sculptures were auctioned to benefit DIF Zapopan, the government agency supporting social care in one of Guadalajara’s largest municipalities.

GivingTuesday Kicks Off in Guam

GivingTuesday Guam started the day with a big celebration! Governor Lou Leon Guerrero officially declared today GivingTuesday in Guam, and the legislature presented a resolution to the KUAM CareForce and GivingTuesday Guam Spark Ambassadors.

With the formal recognitions in place, the team set out on a day-long mission to spread generosity across the island, showing that big impact comes from dedicated community action.

GivingTuesday at Underwood Elementary

Underwood Elementary in Raleigh, NC, is using GivingTuesday to inspire donations from parents and the local community. This year, the theme draws inspiration from Shel Silverstein’s The Giving Tree, highlighting how school support is a collective effort that grows from the ground up.

The fundraising week includes student performances during morning carpool, including students’ impressive cup-stacking skills. A fun and creative way to celebrate generosity in action!

GivingTuesday Qatar: Creativity for Inclusion

On December 2nd, GivingTuesday Qatar hosted a creative workshop at Al Noor Empowerment and Integration to empower and include visually impaired participants. Attendees learned to craft paper-flower frames, taking a meaningful step toward greater inclusivity, connection, and artistic expression.

GivingTuesday Czechia: Spreading Joy with #FreeHugs

GivingTuesday Czechia kicked off the day in Prague with a cheerful #FreeHugs campaign, and a very friendly pony named Elis!

The event was designed to bring smiles and brighten the city, proving how small, playful acts can spread joy.

GivingTuesday Taiwan: Spreading Joy with Postcards

GivingTuesday Taiwan celebrated the movement with two special activities this year. First, they launched a limited-edition postcard campaign, featuring moments from their “#1,000 Beauties of View in Taiwan” and “#Thanks on the Move” initiatives. The postcards are being sent to global partners as a small symbol of connection and shared generosity across countries.

In addition, the team ran a playful “vote–grab–send” activity at their office. Participants voted for the photo that best represents Taiwan and received a handwritten note to brighten their day.

GivingTuesdayMilitary: Fox & Friends First

GivingTuesdayMilitary co-founder Jess Manfre joined Fox & Friends First to share how military spouses are turning GivingTuesday into a global movement of service. From small acts of kindness to supporting veterans and their families, the team shows that anyone can make an impact.

On GivingTuesday, Oumaima, a Starling Alumni from Morocco, brought kindness and generosity to life in the classroom. She created and delivered a full set of teen-friendly English activities designed to teach and model simple acts of helping, sharing, and using kind words.

Her program included short reading passages, comprehension questions, role-plays, and a Weekly Kindness Challenge, plus colorful classroom posters that encourage empathy, cooperation, and supportive actions. Thanks to Oumaima, students are practicing generosity every day and building habits that will last a lifetime!

José Carlos Pérez Pérpuly, a Starling Alumni from GivingTuesday Mexico, is leading a powerful arts-based advocacy campaign in Tecate, Baja California. His project, “Conferen-Cierto: Voces y Caminos de la Migración,” blends a traditional conference with a musical performance to highlight the human stories behind migration.

Through this innovative approach, José Carlos is cultivating empathy, deepening public understanding, and creating a more supportive environment for migrant communities.

Cebu, a province in the central Philippines, has been deeply affected by Typhoon Tino, with homes flooded, lives disrupted, and communities in urgent need. Maria Nemy Lou Rocio, a Starling Alumni and co-founder of Migrant Writers of Hong Kong, has stepped up in partnership with the #CebuNeedsYou team to launch a donation drive for clothing and financial aid, helping families rebuild and recover. They are also collaborating with JCI Mandaue for on-the-ground distribution.

“Generosity makes the world a better place to live in. Giving often leads to strong discernment of one’s purpose in life,” says Maria Nemy Lou. “Through giving unselfishly to my community and peers, I found my deeper purpose, an answer from my painful past.”

Mariachi Women: Reclaiming the Stage in Mexico

Last weekend in Mexico, Mónica Rojas Jáuregui, a teacher and mariachi musician, hosted a special concert to spotlight female mariachis. She invited fellow women musicians to perform, helping them gain exposure and reclaim their role in a tradition historically dominated by men.

The event also featured young mariachis and dancers, celebrating the next generation of talent. Proceeds from the concert will support more female mariachis, helping them achieve greater recognition and respect for their work.

A Small Spark of Kindness That Spread Across Mexico

Marco from Mexico, part of the Starling Mentorship Program, launched a powerful activation inspired by a simple moment he witnessed at Cemefi, where he works. With almost no resources, just the right idea at the right time, he showed how easily generosity can multiply.

During a monthly team meeting, Marco and his colleagues shared printed kind phrases with more than eighty teammates. In just minutes, the energy spread, the group doubled the number of phrases created, and a small volunteer squad went out to share them with neighbors in the Escandón community.

Building on that spark, Marco hosted a Zoom session showing how memes can help communicate important information in fun, accessible ways. His goal: demonstrate that data, community insights, and key messages can be shared in formats that spark curiosity, invite participation, and strengthen generosity movements.

The session drew participants from Chile, Mexico, Argentina, and beyond!

GivingTuesday Bulgaria is marking the day with a nationwide set of 18 events and activations that invite people and organizations to give in ways that matter to them.

Highlights include:

GivingTuesday Sierra Leone celebrated the day with over 400 children at a vibrant community football match in the George Brook community. The field was full of energy and fun, a wonderful reminder of how play and community connection can inspire everyday generosity.

GivingTuesday Italy: Lighting Up the Night in Red

For GivingTuesday 2025, the night across Italy was lit up in red, a stunning celebration of generosity. From Firenze to Modena, Rimini to Venice, monuments, squares, and historic buildings glowed for a collective message of solidarity and care.

It wasn’t just lights on buildings, it was a reminder that communities across the country believe in caring, connection, and a better future.

GivingTuesday Kenya: The Giving Machine at Sarit Mall

This giving season, generosity comes to life at Sarit Mall in Westlands, Nairobi, with the launch of a #GivingMachine on GivingTuesday. The #GivingMachine is a kiosk-style machine that makes it easy for shoppers to give in-kind items or cash donations throughout December and the holiday season.

Through the kiosks, you can help provide clothing, shelter, health care, education, and so much more. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a real difference. Hakuna kitu kidogo,  your kindness can spread hope this season.

Scholar-Fundraisers at the Lily School of Philanthropy Launch GivingTuesday Campaigns

This semester, students at the Lily School of Philanthropy at Indiana University are turning their classroom learning into action, building GivingTuesday campaigns for nonprofits they care about. The results are inspiring!

Some of the campaigns include:

  • Horizon House – Supporting neighbors experiencing homelessness with safe shelter, essential care, and a path forward. Learn more

GivingTuesday Puerto Rico: Amplifying Generosity Across the Island

Happy GivingTuesday from Puerto Rico!

Today, we were thrilled to see local television highlight GivingTuesday Puerto Rico and feature nonprofit organizations promoting their campaigns and causes. Across the island, dozens of NGOs are actively sharing their initiatives, engaging communities in meaningful acts of generosity.

To further amplify the movement, GivingTuesday Puerto Rico has also:

GivingTuesday Croatia: Spreading Kindness in Pula

GivingTuesday Croatia celebrated the big day with Kindness To Go on the main square in Pula. They shared free coffee and cookies, and in return invited people to write messages, good wishes, or kind thoughts to brighten someone else’s day. The event drew a wonderful crowd, and it was inspiring to see so many embrace the spirit of giving and kindness.

Later today, GivingTuesday Croatia will continue the celebration with Open Days at the Community Service Center Pula, featuring a free lecture and workshop for young people and parents to strengthen community support.

On July 22, GivingTuesday Zambia, in partnership with Orphan Care International, launched a powerful #PeriodGiving campaign. Under the dedicated leadership of Malingose, the team has already distributed 900 reusable pads and 1,000 disposable pads across three schools, meeting urgent needs with dignity and care.

The campaign continues through August, and we’re cheering them on every step of the way!

On July 14th, GivingTuesday Togo and Humanité et Développement launched a bold campaign against child malnutrition, an often invisible crisis affecting rural communities.

This partnership featured organized nutritional assessments, urgent care, and critical case management, with referrals to specialized services when needed.

This collaborative effort was powered by young French volunteers and nurses, who gave their time and skills to work hand in hand with our Togolese doctors and local volunteer teams.

On July 18th to mark Mandela Day, organizations across the continent stepped up, giving time, care, and resources to uplift their communities in meaningful ways, providing essential healthcare services such as life-saving breast cancer surgeries, free eye tests, and health screenings, and launching a blood drive aimed at saving lives.

Support for mental wellness was extended through food gardening workshops at a mental health institution, offering residents both healing and practical skills.

Children were empowered through dance and creative expression, while others received climate-themed educational kits designed to make learning fun and meaningful.

Orphaned youths were introduced to future-focused digital skills like coding, robotics, and drone piloting, giving them hope and tools for a better tomorrow.

Communities also helped protect the environment by collecting recyclables at Zoo Lake and received valuable safety knowledge through a practical talk.

Families were supported through donation drives and community fun days, and participants were celebrated with giveaways and prizes, proving that together, small acts of service can honour Mandela’s legacy in lasting and meaningful ways.

In Congo, youth leadership and community generosity were recently celebrated in a powerful way. Butterfly NGO—the lead organization for GivingTuesday Congo—received the Trophy of Excellence from Association 242 in Brazzaville for its outstanding commitment to volunteerism, youth empowerment, and community engagement.

Through initiatives like the Butterfly Ladies Section Club, Butterfly for Kids, and their annual GivingTuesday campaigns, the organization continues to spark generosity, nurture leadership, and expand educational opportunities for young people across the country.

This recognition highlights how GivingTuesday community leaders are transforming everyday acts of generosity into long-lasting impact.

In Guam, the KUAM CareForce is hitting the road to support neighbors in need. Each Tuesday in November, GivingTuesday Guam is hosting its Village-to-Village Donation Drive at Kmart, collecting food, clothing, toiletries, baby items, toys, and other essentials for families across the island.

The CareForce team sets up on-site from 12–2 p.m., making it easy for anyone to stop by and contribute. These weekly drives are building momentum toward GivingTuesday while strengthening community care—one donation at a time.

In the DRC, CACDI is mobilizing communities for a month of generosity. With GivingTuesday in Tshimbulu/Dibaya Territory, Central Kasai province, the Center for Community Action for Integral Development (CACDI) is organizing local initiatives to promote volunteer engagement, community support, and acts of generosity among vulnerable populations.

These month-long activities highlight the power of collective action to strengthen communities and inspire giving at a local level.

ETrain brings eco-friendly generosity to Johnson Park Elementary. This past week, Spark Leader ETrain read a meaningful eco-friendly story, crafted GivingTuesday kindness bookmarks, and gifted three 2nd-grade classrooms with brand-new eco-friendly picture books. Returning for a second year, ETrain celebrated the students’ curiosity and generosity, thanks to the welcoming teachers at Johnson Park Elementary School.

Spreading Generosity in Cameroon

GivingTuesday Cameroon’s community came together to support children impacted by displacement and conflict. Through the Civil Documentation Project—running until 2027—over 1,000 children have already gained access to vital legal documents, unlocking opportunities for education, healthcare, and protection. The initiative combines mobile registration campaigns, legal aid clinics, and awareness sessions, with support from local authorities, traditional leaders, and volunteers.

The community also rallied in support of gender-based violence survivors in Bamenda, North West Cameroon.

Promoting Community Philanthropy in Mozambique

The 3rd Workshop and Conference of the Giving for Change project (Doar para Transformar) took place October 23–24, bringing together civil society actors, grassroots organizations, business leaders, academics, NGOs, and government representatives. Coordinated by the MICAIA Foundation and funded by the Government of the Netherlands, the project aims to strengthen community philanthropy practices in Mozambique.

While challenges remain—such as resource mobilization, legal recognition, and dependence on external funding—the workshop provided a platform for collaboration and strategy development. By connecting stakeholders and promoting partnerships, the initiative supports the Global Generosity Campaign and GivingTuesday, helping community organizations build stronger, sustainable practices of generosity.

Teaching the Next Generation About GivingTuesday in South Korea

On October 22, GivingTuesday South Korea welcomed 150 international high school students for a special learning event. The program began with a discussion on the history and impact of GivingTuesday, followed by speeches from three North Korean refugee authors.

Students were then challenged to design an act of kindness or activity supporting North Korean refugees, giving them a hands-on opportunity to apply the values of generosity and community care. While the students returned to their home countries afterward, the experience introduced them to the global spirit of GivingTuesday and the importance of taking action to make a positive impact.

Spreading Peace Through GivingTuesday in Togo

GivingTuesday Togo is launching this year’s campaign around the theme of PEACE, inviting everyone to share messages of hope and generosity during challenging times. Under the hashtag #PaixAvecGivingTuesdayTogo, participants are encouraged to celebrate peace every Tuesday leading up to December 2.

Peace, they remind us, isn’t just the absence of conflict—it’s the smile you offer a neighbor, the hand you extend to someone in need, and the forgiveness that frees hearts.

Action of the week: Call someone you’ve had tension with and simply say, “I’m thinking of you.” Because peace is something we give, share, and live.

Good Deed in the Blood: GivingTuesday in Czechia

GivingTuesday Czechia is launching the “Good Deed in the Blood” campaign, encouraging companies to donate blood in partnership with the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic.

Giving blood, a cost-free act with the power to save lives, is celebrated as one of the purest forms of generosity. The campaign aims to inspire a new generation of regular blood donors.

November 1 – December 2, 2025: Companies are invited to engage their teams, colleagues, and friends in this meaningful challenge.

On October 17, 2025, GivingTuesday Nigeria officially unveiled the Giving Festival 2025!

The press conference brought together partners, nonprofit leaders, and media to announce Nigeria’s first-ever Giving Festival, taking place on December 2, 2025, as part of the global celebration of generosity.

The Festival will unite CSR brands, nonprofits, volunteers, and communities for a day of giving, impact, and connection.

This effort is powered by an incredible planning team of Starling Alumni Fellows, Spark Leaders, State Leaders, and nonprofit partners, all working together to bring generosity to life.

Nate’s Next Kid Up: Bringing Joy and Opportunity to Foster Youth

Nate, a 12-year-old Spark Leader, founded Nate’s Next Kid Up to bring joy and opportunity to children in foster care. It all began in 2020 when Nate wished to donate his Christmas gifts to local foster kids, including sports equipment to help them stay active and healthy. Inspired by his vision, we partnered with CASA of the Coastal Bend to host a Toy & Sports Equipment Drive, collecting donations to make his dream a reality.

Nate’s vision extends beyond gifts: he strives to create environments where foster children can thrive, expand programs, open new facilities, and celebrate every child’s journey toward a brighter future.

A highlight of his work is the Foster Road Trip Program, which fosters personal growth, builds resilience, and creates lasting memories. After two years of planning, 100 foster youth will visit NASA on November 22, joining past excursions to Astros and Rangers games that spark curiosity, social skills, and a sense of belonging.

GT Lesotho: Empowering Communities Through Sports

In Qacha’s Nek, Lesotho, GivingTuesday Lesotho hosted the Educational Empowerment through Sports event on October 4, marking Lesotho’s Independence Day. Using football as a unifying platform, the match raised awareness about gender-based violence and educated the community on protecting women and children.

In a district facing high rates of rape, sexual harassment, and child marriage, the event created a safe space for meaningful conversations, showing that the real trophy is empowerment and awareness.

Supported by the Lesotho Mounted Police, Ministry of Gender, Social Development and Youth, Lesotho Defence Force, DiFA, and local NGOs, the initiative leveraged shared expertise and resources to confront the root causes of crime. Even amid funding delays, volunteers and partners contributed their own resources, exemplifying community collaboration and shared responsibility.

GT Nigeria, Oyo State: Food4Education Project Brings Hope

On October 1, 2025, a simple plate of food became a symbol of hope in Arikanki Village, Oyo State.

GivingTuesday Nigeria’s Oyo Chapter, led by State Lead Kemi Adesina of the Nathaniel Albert Foundation, launched the Food4Education Project, serving school meals to children across four villages.

This initiative addresses hunger and malnutrition in underserved communities. By providing nutritious daily meals, it supports children to learn better, stay in school, and thrive, turning generosity into tangible, life-changing impact.

GT Togo/Spark: Leading Generosity Through Health and Community Initiatives

In October 2025, the Spark Team in Togo brought generosity to life with impactful community initiatives.

During Rose October (or Pink October), volunteers partnered with local organizations to lead a breast cancer awareness campaign at AOA Orphanage and Jean François DASISE School, educating the community on early detection and prevention.

They also hosted a sexual health education session for SYNCTATO’s seamstress apprentices (Session 27), supported by Association de Solidarité Internationale CJLE, and concluded with a cleanup activity at Adetikopé 1 High School, fostering both health awareness and community care.

These efforts showcase how local action can inspire education, health, and civic engagement.
