Social Media and Digital Communications Manager, India Hub

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organisations to transform their communities and the world. It is also the name of the nucleus organisation that supports the global movement in 85+ countries and hundreds of communities around the world. We are in our tenth year and have a track record of remarkable impact behind us and exponential growth ahead.

We are seeking a Social Media and Digital Communications Manager, India Hub, to join our global, distributed team. This person will play a critical role in managing strategy and execution of digital communications projects for the India Hub. The GivingTuesday India Hub is expecting to ramp up operations for GivingTuesday in India, broadening and deepening the movement, and seeking ways to become the collaboration facilitator that convenes, learns from, and adds value to all generosity movements and actors in India. The India Hub is exploring programming that includes a fellowship program for grassroots social impact leaders (like the Starling Collective), an Indian chapter of GivingTuesday Spark, Indian data projects that are in line with the objectives of the GivingTuesday Data Commons, and other similar initiatives.

About the role:

We are seeking a passionate storyteller who understands how social media and content uniquely drive information and action in today’s digital environment. The right candidate will be excited about supporting a generosity movement using their social media skills, adept at digital community engagement, and will look forward to working in a start-up environment. You will be responsible for designing and implementing digital marketing strategies and creating social media content that advance GivingTuesday’s mission in India, by reaching a broad audience and attaining greater exposure. Your work will lead to greater community interest and involvement, and the establishment of GivingTuesday as a thought-leader in generosity and movement-building in India. You will work closely with other GivingTuesday consultants in India, and will collaborate with the global GivingTuesday team and India leader/s.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute digital marketing strategies with a focus on expanding GivingTuesday India’s presence and engagement across multiple social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and other emerging platforms.
  • Build and grow an engaged digital community for GivingTuesday.
  • Conceptualize, create, edit, and publish engaging content (e.g. original text, photos, graphics and videos).
  • Manage and coordinate with external partners such as content producers, web design agencies, etc.
  • Define, track, evaluate, and report on success metrics.
  • Support the India Hub and GivingTuesday India leaders to adopt emerging technologies and trends (where appropriate) through training and toolkits.
  • Coordinate with web development agencies and the India Hub for the revamp of GivingTuesday India’s website and update content as required.
  • Plan, design, and coordinate with the India Hub to publish quarterly newsletters.
  • May be assigned other tasks and duties reasonably related to their job responsibilities.

Experience and Skills

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience creating, driving, and implementing an engaging social media strategy and managing a digital community to grow brand following and engagement. Relevant experience with a digital media company or community based organisations, movements, or social change campaigns is a plus.
  • Demonstrable experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform, and motivate action.
  • Experience creating and drafting content across all platforms, including video, copy, gifs, and graphics. Experience with designing software and basic knowledge of design.
  • Excellent English copywriting and editing skills and strong storytelling skills.
  • Knowledge of SEO and experience with social media tools such as Pulsar, Hootsuite, Google Analytics, Google Trends, Facebook Insights, and other social listening tools.
  • Familiarity with the process of designing a WordPress website.
  • Experience managing and coordinating with external stakeholders and vendors.

Location and Time Zones

  • This is a full-time, remote consultancy based in India.
  • This role is virtual (no office) and works closely with other India Hub consultants.
  • Regular travel may be required to meet with key stakeholders across the country.
  • Collaboration with a global team working across multiple time zones will require occasional flexibility in working hours.

How to Apply

Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and in line with compensation for similar roles in India.
