Why Helping People Makes You Happy, a TED Talk from Asha Curran

14 Dec 2023 by GivingTuesday

On GivingTuesday 2023, GivingTuesday and TED presented “Infectious Generosity,” a special evening in NYC celebrating the power of generosity and the changemakers spearheading collective action and community transformation across the globe. We’re excited to share the powerful TED talk GivingTuesday’s CEO Asha Curran gave that evening, Why Helping People Makes You Happy,” which explores the outsized impact of ordinary, yet extraordinary, acts of kindness and how one small act can inspire exponentially more acts, all of which have the power to transform our world and future for the better.

Asha was joined, both in person and virtually, by dozens of GivingTuesday community and country leaders and staff, including GivingTuesday Colombia and Costa Rica leader Diana Carolina Cano, GivingTuesday Liberia leader Z.J. Jallah, and GivingTuesday Military leader Samantha Gomolka, who each shared how they’ve launched and built generosity movements inspiring collective action year-round.

As one year closes and another begins, let’s celebrate the impact generosity has had on countless communities and look ahead to another year of working together to build the brighter, safer, and healthier world we hope to see by centering kindness in all of our actions, big and small.
