Costa Rica has joined the GivingTuesday movement

1 Mar 2019 by GivingTuesday

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, with online and offline activity in every country, on every continent. At a local level, we are led by hand raisers in towns, cities, states, and countries. Despite diverse cultures of philanthropy, our leaders around the world, share the values of GivingTuesday, centered on generosity, citizen participation, and collective action.

Our latest hand raisers are Diana Carolina Miller and Ely Rodriguez of FUNDECISE, who will lead the #GivingTuesday Costa Rica campaign. “We fell in love with this movement,” says Diana. “At FUNDECISE, we believe that we have something that we can give, and at the same time, we receive Sometimes we forget that it is not just about giving money – our skills, knowledge, talents and our being can realize the change we want to cultivate. ”

Here’s a sneak peek at the new #GivingTuesdayCostaRica logo:

“For #GivingTuesdayCostaRica, it is important for us to promote that we have more to give than to a bank transaction, we can give you a lot of money. us it is important to promote innovation, information technology, and communication (ICTs) in all ages and places in Costa Rica- to be able to support the reduction of economic poverty (Poverty in Costa Rica was raised to 21.1% of households in 2018) , generate development and be a pioneer in the world in solving these issues. ”

When asked about the impact she’s hoping that GivingTuesday has on Costa Rica, Diana said, “it’s a great value to be able to take part in the #GivingTuesday or #UnDiaParaDar movement. It’s a great opportunity to be pioneers and to encourage and invite other organizations that have our same dream of increasing generosity and being able to make a mark in our country and in the world. ”
