Generosity makes a bigger impact when we give together.
We know through GivingTuesday Data Commons research that when generosity is visible, more people participate. When you see a neighbor helping a neighbor, someone holding the door for others, or a person paying it forwarded in the coffee line. Those moments move us to be kinder, more thoughtful people.
Form Your Team
Ahead of TogetherTuesday on June 23, you’ll need to plot out what you want to do for the day. Will you host a community BBQ, organize a clean-up, or collect donations for the local animal shelter? Whatever you choose, know you don’t have to go at it alone!
Take time, right now, to build your team based on what you hope to accomplish. Here’s a quick framework you can follow to get yourself set up for success. For framing, let’s say you want to host a community-wide cleanup.
Here are a few key players for a successful TogetherTuesday:
1. Marketing + Development Lead: This is your go-to person for creating content and leading efforts to secure sponsorships for your event.
2. Event Planning + Volunteer Lead: Designate this person to lead on all-things planning and scheduling for your event. They can also help coordinate volunteers and assign duties.
3. Operations Lead: Budgets and spreadsheets aren’t for everyone, but for this person they are. Have them help you keep your timelines and expenses on track.
Build Your Toolbox
Once you have your team in place, define what tools you might need for your community-wide cleanup. Here’s a sample checklist you can take and modify as you need:
