Celebrating Generosity in Czechia: Announcing the Winners of ‘Generous Days of ČEPS’ Challenge

6 Jan 2025 by GivingTuesday
For the fourth year in a row, company ČEPS is supporting Giving Tuesday in the Czech Republic, helping to build a culture of philanthropy in the country. This year, ČEPS participated in Giving Tuesday with its charitable initiative, Generous Days of ČEPS

Throughout December, its employees had the opportunity to learn about ten selected charitable projects that had registered their project on the Giving Tuesday CZ website and met the criteria of ČEPS’s Donor Program. Subsequently, they chose three winners to receive financial support.

“The motto of ČEPS’s Donor Program is transferring energy where it is needed. I am pleased to see that this resonates with our employees, who actively participate in helping those in need. Thanks to their high level of interest, we were able to hold the fourth annual Generous Days this year,” says Hana Klímová, Director of the Communications Department at ČEPS.

Through voting, employees decided which three projects would receive financial support of CZK 150,000 each. The call for projects focused on charitable and social assistance, support for people with disabilities, and those in difficult situations.

Since 2016, Giving Tuesday in the Czech Republic has been overseen by the Association for Social Responsibility.

The Supported Projects:
  • In an internal vote, employees chose to support the organization Dům pro Julii and their project “Nurse for the Children’s Hospice.” This non-profit organization assists families with terminally ill children who require full-time care. Dům pro Julii offers respite stays with professional healthcare and field services in the South Moravian region, and to expand their care, they need to hire a nurse and secure funding through donations.
  • The second selected project was Wigs for Children with Cancer through the organization Nové háro. This association makes real-hair wigs for seriously ill children and provides them free of charge. The project is now managed by the family of the founder, Markétka, who herself faced a cancer diagnosis. The production of one wig costs approximately CZK 50,000, and the association welcomes any financial donation to cover these costs and continue helping children in line with the founder’s vision.
  • The third organization selected was Alsa, with their project “I Am Still Me – A Campaign for ALS Patients.” The goal is to raise awareness about ALS and show that patients are not mentally impaired, but are trapped in their bodies, while promoting better communication between healthcare providers and these patients. Alsa focuses on ensuring quality care for patients in the Czech Republic, where nearly 300 new cases are diagnosed annually, and requires financial support to continue their activities.
