This is why GivingTuesday launched the Community Campaign Accelerator, a pilot program designed to help local leaders bring their communities together through the power of collective generosity.Â
More than a decade of GivingTuesday Data Commons research reveals that towns with Campaigns have consistently engaged 85% more donors and raised 90% more in donations (per capita) than communities without. Just as importantly, these campaigns have strengthened connections between residents, businesses, and nonprofits, creating networks that can mobilize at times when communities need them most.
Today, we support Community Campaigns covering roughly a third of America. Our goal: a Community Campaign in every county across the country. Amarillo Area Foundation (AAF) launched its giving day, The Panhandle Gives, on GivingTuesday, and in 2024 raised over $11.6 million ($2M over their goal) for nonprofits in 25 counties. In 2018, the campaign raised $830,000, translating to a 1,300% increase over the last 7 campaign cycles. All nonprofits eligible to receive AAF funding qualified for the campaign, and fees were covered by the Foundation’s board. To incentivize local giving, the Foundation also offered each participating organization that raised $250 a match via their Amplification Fund, which pooled money from local foundations, corporations, and individual donors. Through this campaign, AAF and participating #PanhandleGives partners, are leveraging giving days to engage different community partners and raise significant new funds for local charities.
