New Life For Youth is the largest and oldest faith based rehabilitation center in Virginia serving those who battle addiction nationwide, regardless of their ability to pay. Giving hope to every young man and woman who is now in bondage to drug and alcohol addiction is the mission of this amazing organization that, in the last 45 years, has helped save the lives of over 20,000 people. NLFY has 3 recovery homes that house, clothe and feed over 220 "students" annually while also preparing them to be more productive members of the community through vocational training and a strong foundation in the Word of God. Mercy Moms is a home that houses women who have successfully completed the program and their children. It allows them to reconnect in a safe and stable environment until they get on their feet. NLFY does not receive any state or federal funding.
We could not afford what most treatment facilities cost but New Life took our family member anyway. My cousin is now half way through their 12 month program. She is finally able to feel at peace and to imagine a life very different from the one she led before. She had been using cocaine for 10 years then graduated to opiates for 5 years and finally heroin the last year and a half before going to jail. She can't believe that she became that person... someone who would hurt her parents and children in that way. Since she has been at New Life, she rededicated her life to Christ and started to rebuild an even stronger relationship with us and her children. This program has given her a healthier and more positive outlook in her life and her future, even in this short time. She is the proof that change is possible.
NLFY never turns anyone away due to lack of financial resources. How do you tell a child that their mother's life could have been saved if only she had the $30,000 it costs for the average 30 day rehab program? Every life is worth saving and I have seen the results of this program and the lives it is saving. Nothing short of amazing & that is why I am choosing New Life For Youth on #GivingTuesday.
