Today's story comes from 19-year-old Katie, who wrote this story to support the organization Katie's Krops:
When I was nine, I grew a 40-pound cabbage, and my life was forever changed. I donated my cabbage to a soup kitchen. It fed 275 people struggling with hunger. I thought, if one cabbage to could feed 275 people imagine how many people a whole garden could feed. My dream to end hunger one vegetable garden at a time was born. I started Katie's Krops to help that dream grow. The mission of Katie's Krops is to empower youth to start and maintain vegetable gardens of all sizes and donate the harvest to help feed people in need, as well as to assist and inspire others to do the same. Ten years later I am proud to say that I have grown and donated thousands of proud of fresh produce to people in need and I have empowered thousands of kids across the country to do the same.
