Can you imagine going through the dead of winter without mittens and or a scarf? I know I certainly could not!
Did you know there are children in our own backyard that go without these essentials because they have no choice?
Little Johnny is one such person. He loved school and would not miss school, not even the brutal winters could keep him away from school.
On such days little Johnny would put on a pair of his warmest socks for mittens and he would brave the cold during those harsh winter days notwithstanding his mother's plea for him to stay home for fear of him getting frost bite.
Little Johnny did not pay attention to the jeers he received from his classmates. The Distress Centre Halton would like to help as many Johnny's as possible to be equipped for the coming winter.
On #GivingTuesday the Distress Centre Halton will have a booth at the Oakville Place Mall where a group of volunteers will be collecting new or gently used warm and cosy mittens and scarves. These items will be kindly donated to a reputable charity who will distribute such items to families in need.
Please join our warm and cosy Mitten & Scarf drive on #GivingTuesday!
