This #GivingTuesday please consider supporting the mission of The Lay Centre. This mission includes:

  1. Being a house of residence and formation for lay students undertaking graduate study in Rome in order to equip them for future leadership and service to the Church
  2. Offering hospitality to visiting professors doing research or study in Rome
  3. Providing spiritual development and related programs and conferences to local and international groups.

An independent Catholic house, The Lay Centre also places substantial importance on promoting Christian unity and interreligious dialogue. Since its inception in 1986, more than 270 scholars have lived and been formed at The Lay Centre. They have come from some 64 countries with the largest contingent (37%) coming from the United States and from 13 religious traditions, including Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Unitarian Universalist and T'ienti. The majority of our scholars have been Catholic. However, other Christian scholars in residence have included Anglicans, Coptics, Lutherans, Orthodox and Reformed. This diversity creates a "dialogue of life" where all can interact on a daily basis with mutual respect, patience, openness and a spirit of good will. The mission and environment of The Lay Centre is unique in Rome. Learn more about The Lay Centre at We hope a gift to The Lay Centre will be part of your #GivingTuesday plan.
