Fonkoze USA, a 501(c)3 non-profit, is hosting #Run4Fonkoze, a 4-week virtual walk/run #GivingTuesday campaign that runs from November 1st through #GivingTuesday, on November 28, 2017. Individuals around the world are invited to participate by completing personal walk/run challenges to help raise funds for Fonkoze's poverty-defeating services throughout rural Haiti.
World Champion French pentathlete Charlotte Menard, too, is running the race with Fonkoze and friends! When asked why she chose to represent Fonkoze during her worldwide competitions, she said, "You are empowering women to change their lives themselves. I admire the courage and strength they possess. Their stories and faces will stay with me for a long time. Whenever I feel like slowing down or giving up because the race has become too difficult, I will think of them and the unimaginable things they have to overcome every day. To the world, I say, 'Let's run this race together and win. Let's defeat poverty.'"
See Charlotte's #Run4Fonkoze video here. Fonkoze is a family of 3 organizations (Fonkoze USA, Fonkoze Financial Services and Fonkoze Foundation) that has been working together for over 22 years to empower Haitians, primarily women, with the tools, resources and support needed to lift their families out of extreme poverty. In addition to providing financial empowerment through microloans, Fonkoze provides education, health services/products, business skills training and ultra poverty support to the most vulnerable and forgotten families in virtually every region in Haiti.
