By the team at Cool Effect.
As an organization putting hope in the hands of other individuals, it’s always important to show that you too, as an organization, believe in giving back to others. For Bay Area based non-profit Cool Effect, #GivingTuesday was and is the perfect opportunity to do that.
Cool Effect is a platform that allows individuals to crowdfund on behalf of the best carbon reduction projects across the globe -- essentially providing a simple and affordable way for people to have a direct and tangible impact on the global fight against climate change.
Last year on #GivingTuesday, Cool Effect launched it’s “Save Our Snowmen” campaign, highlighting the plight of snowmen to inspire people to take proven, measurable action against climate change. They premiered a clever mockumentary about this plight of the snowmen and engaged with snowmen ambassadors who canvassed NYC on Nov. 29 (2016) and migrated north to call attention for the digital platform and the need to take action. Alysia Reiner (environmental activist and actress best known for Orange is the New Black) also donated her time to Cool Effect to help kick-off the campaign and encourage others to celebrate #GivingTuesday. For every share of #SaveOurSnowmen, Cool Effect contributed a dollar-for-dollar to match.
This year, Cool Effect is excited to take part once again in the celebrated global giving movement in its own backyard, inviting all Bay Area locals and visitors for complimentary ice skating at the Holiday Ice Rink at Embarcadero Center in Embarcadero Plaza on #GivingTuesday.
Complimentary ice skating will be provided by Cool Effect at no cost for all sessions at the rink and they are also encouraging attendees to consider a tax-deductible donation to one of a Cool Effect’s 11 carbon-cutting projects to further help our mission of fighting climate change.
