Frederick K.C. Price III Christian Schools (Price) is a Christian, college-preparatory school consisting of preschool, elementary, junior high, and high school. Throughout the years, Crenshaw Christian Center has sponsored the school as a ministry by providing it facilities and major financial support. Price Christian Schools has experienced a budget deficit for the past few years. This challenge to maintain funding is not unique to Price. Private schools typically receive funding from a combination of tuition, gifts from alumni and the community, and endowments. With the church’s support, and by cutting back some programs, we have been able to keep tuition rates low and affordable. We have reached a point that any more spending cuts would negatively impact the high quality of education we provide. And we want to avoid being in a situation where economic factors beyond our control, such as cost-of-living increases or enrollment, would create additional budget shortfalls.
While Crenshaw Christian Center remains key source of financial support, both the school and the church agree that to continue providing outstanding education to students from preschool through high school, we need to seek additional financial opportunities. Price has boosted its recruitment efforts to attract new families, upped its parent engagement to insure student retention, and continues to seek out additional sources of income. One of these sources is the #GivingTuesday movement.
This year, Price has chosen to participate in the international day of giving to kick off the holiday season. Participating in this movement will allow Price to solicit funds from friends, family, the immediate community, and the public at large. Funds from this movement will help Price function autonomously, as well as add to the curriculum and range of services it has to offer its students. If successful, this is a movement Price will participate in annually to bring in additional funds.
Price offers its families and students an outstanding education both in academics and wider opportunities. Established in 1985, Price has maintained a 100% graduation rate since its charter class, with 98% of graduates accepted into 4-year colleges and universities all over the country. These schools include Stanford University, Howard University, Dartmouth College, Georgetown University, University of California at Berkeley, University of California at Los Angeles, and University of Southern California. Additionally, Price’s boys’ basketball team has won several California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) championships, and their drum line performs annually in Los Angeles’ Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade, and has won awards for such performances. If maintaining Price’s outstanding service to our children and the community is important to you, we urge you to please join us on Tuesday, November 28th by donating to Frederick K.C.
