We first came in contact with the Candlelighters and their staff at World of Concrete 3 years ago. My wife Donna and I have a foundation, Concrete Cares, in which we use different aspects of concrete to help families facing the challenges of cancer. At each event, we ask the local community to find someone who has fallen on hard times from the attacks of cancer.

For World of Concrete, we contacted longtime friend Jack Christenson of Concrete Accessories of Las Vegas. Jack gave us a number and I called Melissa Cipriano and we said we would like to raise and donate money to charity when we attend World of Concrete. I am pleased that many in the concrete industry have seen the work that Candlelighters is doing and have stepped up to support them in helping children facing the daily challenges of cancer. Over the past 3 years, we have seen more pink concrete trucks with ribbons and Concrete Cares logos. We do not enjoy the pain inflicted by cancer but we do enjoy the small part that concrete has done to help this group.

We are planning to do more in 2018 at World of Concrete January 21-25 We are pleased many in the concrete industry have donated items so we can sell raffle tickets and all sales can be directed to the Candlelighters. It amazes me and warms our hearts to see what this group does in their community.
