Puberty and sex is something that every human being deals with, yet it remains a source of awkward conversational trepidation for so many parents. And AMAZE is preparing to help parents with these conversations through a project they are launching on #GivingTuesday.

AMAZE is a collaboration between three expert organizations in the field of sex education: Advocates for Youth, Answer and Youth Tech Health. Their primary focus is to produce engaging sex education videos for 10-14 year olds, covering the essential “mechanics” such as puberty, as well as more complex topics such as gender identity, consent, and sexual assault. AMAZE’s goal is for these videos to spark conversations between kids and parents, and to ultimately empower parents to be the primary sexuality educators of their kids. (Because otherwise, OMG Google search results!)

Since AMAZE’s launch in 2016, they have heard a request repeatedly from parents: “Please tell me exactly what to say! Give me a script!” So on #GivingTuesday, AMAZE is “gifting” parents with a new series on their website called Having The Talks—because it’s not just one talk, it’s a lifetime of talks. This series will include introductory videos from sex education experts, beautifully designed downloadable conversation starters and script language—covering the topics puberty, porn, relationships, bullying and masturbation—as well as related books, videos and online resources.

Get ready to embrace—and get past!—the awkward, parents! And if you want to ease in with some general tips on how to take the next step on open and honest sex ed conversations with your kids, check out these 12 tips! And you can find AMAZE on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat.
