Riding the train. Trains in department store windows. A train under the Christmas tree. Iron Spike Model Train Museum is in the business of preserving and sharing all these special memories. This layout was the life's work of Dean Corsa and has been donated to the Museum by his family. As you can see, this layout has overhead power which makes it a very unusual system. Initially, the family asked if we could find a way to incorporate even 10% of their father's work into the Museum. But when we saw it for the first time, we knew we had to preserve as much of this work of art as possible. So we have sacrificed our workroom and turned it into part of the Museum proper. We have already moved the layout and are now in the process of rebuilding it. We are painting a mountain mural on the walls that will hearken back to the European trip that inspired the original layout.
Corsa family members have shared with us their memories of building with their dad and lovingly pointed out obscure details that enhance every viewer's enjoyment. The layout is more than 40 years of work. Many of the features can't be purchased anymore. The many animated features and lighting need costly restoration to bring this unique layout back to its original glory. The entire family will be visiting us again on the day after Christmas. Help us ensure another Magical Train Memory for Cora family by donating to Iron Spike, Inc. on #GivingTuesday. We would like to raise $10,000 to complete the restoration and room renovation that will allow us to properly display this layout.
