Meet Kevin. Kevin loves basketball. When he was 16, a friend invited him to a SportQuest basketball camp in his hometown. He had been to many basketball camps before, but what he experienced during the course of that week-long camp would literally change his life forever. At SportQuest, he met coaches who seemed genuinely interested in who he was as an athlete and as a person. The coaches wanted to see him succeed, not just on the basketball court, but also in life. He had so much fun at SportQuest, grew in his basketball skills, and was also challenged by the stories these coaches shared about their faith in God. After the camp, Kevin decided to go to the local church who hosted the SportQuest camp. Kevin didn’t grow up going to church, but he thought they might be able to help him find the answers to his questions about God.

That was 14 years ago. Now Kevin loves Jesus and basketball. He is a full-time missionary on staff with SportQuest and leads the SportQuest Belgium team. He’s led dozens of SportQuest camps and shared his story with hundreds of young people just like him. His life was changed because he met a coach who cares.

65% of kids in youth sports say they play simply to be with their friends and 71% say they wouldn’t care if no score was kept in their games, yet in our ultra-competitive, high-pressure world it is very difficult for kids to find a place where they can have fun, be part of a team, and grow, not just their skills, but in their faith and character too. Many young athletes struggle with their identity because they feel like they are defined by how well they perform on the field and are measured by how they contributed to the Win/Loss column of the program. SportQuest believes all youth, just like Kevin, should have access to a coach who cares about the whole athlete -- mind, body, and spirit -- who will provide them with an opportunity to have fun, belong, and build faith and character.

Our SportQuest coaches grew up in youth sports and understand what it’s like to feel defined by their athletic abilities, but they have also discovered the true source of their identity -- thanks to coaches in their lives who cared about who they were on and off the field. Since 1998, SportQuest coaches have helped over 10,000 kids around the world find their identity in Christ and learn to Play With Purpose in 3 simple steps:

1. Get In The Game. Join a team, tournament, league, club, or camp.

2. Start Growing. Discover the Bible with your coach and teammates.

3. Play With Purpose. Learn how to use the gift of sport for a purpose that’s bigger than you!

80% of the world watches and/or plays sports. SportQuest is committed to reaching kids -- on the field, in the gym, or wherever they play. So join us on GivingTuesday by giving whatever you can to help SportQuest coaches make a life-changing difference in the next generation.

We don’t want to see young people win at sports yet lose at life. Sports are a God-given gift through which youth can build their character, learn to be part of a team, discover their identity and purpose, and serve others. Help us make a difference in the next generation by giving them a Coach Who Cares.
