#GivingTuesday truly is our favorite day of the year. After all, what’s not to love about a day dedicated to giving back to others? Each year, we stand in awe of the time, resources, and funds contributed by individuals around the globe – and 2016 was no exception.

On #GivingTuesday, over 3,500 people used #donate to give to over 250 causes, generously contributing an average of $35 each! Plus, 60% were donating on social media for the first time, meaning they got to experience the viral effect of social giving:

But we’re not done yet. #GivingTuesday kicks off a whole season of generosity and giving spirit, which is why GoodWorld is giving away $75,000 in matching donations dollar-for-dollar (up to $10) for all new GoodWorld users until December 31. Sign up to take advantage of these matching funds.

31% of annual giving takes place in December, a time when the holidays (and sometimes tax deductions) inspire people to share what they have with others. The goal of these matching donations is to give you and your team and extra boost so you can reach your year-end fundraising goals. Here are a few tactics your cause can use to encourage supporters and keep the momentum going throughout December:

  1. Set a stretch goal - Your audience knows that the end of the year is a critical fundraising time, so include an ambitious goal. Be as specific as you can about what you’ll accomplish when you hit the goal--don’t just say you need to raise $10,000, tell them why!
  2. Look back on 2016 - You wouldn’t have been able to accomplish what you did in 2016 without your supporters. Create a few posts telling them exactly that and show your audience what their donations helped achieve. Let them know that you plan on doing even more good in 2017 and that their continued support is as critical as ever.far

     

  3. Increase your post frequency - December is no time to slow down your fundraising asks. Continue to share the victories and accomplishments and encourage your supporters to give before year’s end so they can be a part of your success in the coming year. As long as you share stories and give reasons to give that show the impact of their generosity, they’ll be delighted to continue to #donate.fa

     

  4. Promote your matching funds - Last but not least, tell your fans that GoodWorld is giving away $75,000 by matching your donations dollar-for-dollar (up to $10) for all new GoodWorld users from through December 31, 2016. People are motivated by matching because it means they can double their impact and make their donation go further for your cause.
