In honor of our Veterans for having served our country, #BeatsTheStreets is celebrating #GivingTuesday on Wednesday, November 23rd to feed our fifty homeless veterans.
On the day before Thanksgiving we will be serving them an Italian feast. We've counted fifty homeless Veterans so far. Beats the Streets is holding the dinner at the Salvation Army Red Shield on Marietta Street in Midtown, Atlanta. They have a full kitchen and cafeteria. They also have an outstanding program for veterans suffering from different behavioral disorders. #LoveServeGive
"There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land." Deuteronomy 15:11
The menu is amazing and our volunteers are excited about serving them this wonderful feast. Maggiano's restaurant in Buckhead is giving us 20% off.
People have been so gracious when it comes to helping homeless veterans and homeless people or those in desperate need as well. My neighbors have chipped in money to help us cover some of the costs for Maggiano's trays of food. I am so thankful. #LoveServeGive and my friends and neighbors get it as well as a few restaurant owners too. #Thankful
These veterans are homeless due to many issues, however the main one is PTSD. Beats the Streets built them a raised vegetable garden in the Spring of 2014 and working with them was a wonderful experience. Many were able to open up and share their stories. They not only learned to work together to maintain and harvest their vegetables, but they also were happy to share their rewards with other homeless individuals and families.
We continue this ministry every season and find the horticultural therapy very good for them and it gives us a chance to minister to them. #LoveServeGive #GivingTuesday
