#GivingTuesday's Heather Fields sits down with Classy's Elizabeth McDonough to talk about how #GivingTuesday can motivate millennials to give. 


QUESTION: How can you use #GivingTuesday as an opportunity to engage millennial donors year-round? 

ANSWER: Did you know that 52% of millennials say they would be interested in monthly giving? Millennials make monthly payments for access to music, television, and gyms. Make your recurring giving program their next membership on #GivingTuesday. Rather than asking for a one-time gift, ask that they make a monthly commitment to your cause. 


QUESTION: How to increase engagement with millennials on #GivingTuesday? 

ANSWER: Millennials have extensive online networks and are motivated to give back to their friends and families vs. new organizations. Capitalize on this and use #GivingTuesday as a launch pad for a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign. Start by asking your most dedicated supporters to fundraise on your behalf and share with them strategies they can use to activate the support of their online communities. 


QUESTION: What's the best way to reach millennials? 

ANSWER: Avoid the phone. In a survey of millennials, phone/text was the least popular way to give. Focus first on creating a clean, mobile responsive website with easy to find information. Be sure to update your homepage with #GivingTuesday campaign details and link out to a mobile-response donation page.
