April 7th, 2015 - A day that changed our lives forever. Our four year old daughter was sent to the ER for blood work after a Dr.'s visit for a rash that developed during Easter break. The rash turned out to be petechiae, a side effect of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. You can read all about AML on the page above, A.M.L.?".
Needless to say, our whole world changed in one day. Our little princess went from living life, enjoying Easter with family and friends, to fighting for her life. The next few months were exhausting. They were filled with incredible lows and huge highs. Through it all, our support system of family, friends, and strangers would lift us up and help us out in so many amazing ways. Our faith was strengthened and our eyes were opened to this world of pediatric cancer. Sure we had seen commercials on TV, maybe new a friend of a friend, but now it was real, in your face, fighting for our daughter’s life reality. You can read Virginia's story here.
As a result of this fight, The Virginia Rose AML Foundation was started to assist families facing pediatric cancer, particularly AML, and help fund research and treatment at hospitals treating pediatric AML. Together we can help find safer treatments, put a smile on a child's face, relieve stress on a family, and provide much needed support in great times of needs.
