Grants Consultant

GivingTuesday is a fast-growing global movement that inspires people to become their most generous selves. Our organization works with 100+ countries, hundreds of community, cause, and identity-based movements and coalitions, and many millions of people all over the world committed to inspire and manifest generosity in local communities. To better support local leaders and increase their impact, GivingTuesday has five full-time staffed Global Hubs in Africa, Europe, India, Latin America & the Caribbean, and the US & Canada.

We are seeking an experienced grant writing professional who can supercharge our fundraising efforts within and across these global regions. Reporting to the Chief Global Partnerships and Strategy Officer, the Grants Consultant will join a distributed global team working with our global community to understand, meld, and leverage their programs, knowledge, and networks into compelling concept notes and proposals for private foundations, corporations, and government partners around the world.

Successful candidates will have advanced English-language writing skills; a track record of working with teams on the research and development of compelling concept notes and grant proposals; curiosity and passion for crafting new and interesting narratives at the convergence of civic participation and a variety of intersectional issues.

As an integral part of the team, the Grants Consultant will:

  • Manage the development of concept notes and grant proposals working in concert with the Chief Global Partnership and Strategy Officer, Hub Directors, Chief Financial Officer, and other senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the team to compile materials and information, and turn them into compelling and cohesive end products for funders. This will also involve original writing as well, positioning GivingTuesday’s work in new and creative ways and incorporating data as needed.
  • Research and identify potential grant opportunities for concepts and proposals in development, including from foundations, corporates, and government agencies globally. Make recommendations to help prioritize funders and scope asks.
  • Prompt and prepare team members who are responsible for placing concept notes. Join for donor calls and support with follow-up.
  • Update program and fund development pipelines. Provide timely reminders of application deadlines.
  • Organize and file all grants-related correspondences (e.g. proposals, applications, etc)
  • Actively participate in regular fundraising meetings with full GivingTuesday team.

Minimum requirements:

  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in fund development
  • Experience in planning, leading, and managing proposals, including coordinating with different departments within an organization
  • Preference for candidates who have a record of fundraising for civil society strengthening, youth, gender, or international development programming
  • Passion for research and storytelling
  • Strong demonstrated research and English-language writing skills
  • Comfortable working on a completely remote team, with potentially some opportunity for travel

This is a remote, full-time contractor position. We encourage candidates from outside of the US.

Please send your CV and cover letter to careers@givingtuesday.org. Due to the volume of applicants, only candidates who are moving into the interview round will be contacted.
