US Lacrosse is the national governing body of lacrosse. Through responsive and effective leadership, we provide programs and services to inspire participation while protecting the integrity of the sport. A cornerstone of that effort is the US Lacrosse First Stick Program which allows kids in undeserved and underdeveloped areas to experience the gift of lacrosse by granting these new players their first sticks, and providing their coaches with comprehensive education to assist in the navigation of the first two years of their program. Largely because of the generosity of donors, in the past two years US Lacrosse has been able to award nearly 300 programs, effectively empowering over 7,500 children across the country through lacrosse.
On #GivingTuesday, US Lacrosse is working to raise $10,180 to allow 50 additional children the opportunity to play lacrosse through awarding First Stick grants to the Mission Bay High School Girls Program (San Diego, Calif.) and the Brooklyn Pitbulls Boys Lacrosse Program (Brooklyn, N.Y.). US Lacrosse will be participating in this year’s global day of giving on social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) on and before December 2, and targeted group outreach to raise support.
Lacrosse has the power to empower lives on and off the field. The generosity of our #GivingTuesday donors means the opportunity to play for these two communities in Brooklyn and San Diego. To join in our campaign, please follow US Lacrosse on social media (Facebook.com/USLacrosse | Instagram.com/USLacrosse | Twitter: @USLacrosse) and consider making a gift by visiting uslacrosse.org/GivingTuesday or by TEXTING the word STICK to 41444.
Give back. Give sticks this #GivingTuesday!
